May 4, 2020 Dear Riverbank Charter School of Excellence Families: Today, New Jersey’s Governor announced that all public and private schools in the state would remain closed for the rest of the academic year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to this, Riverbank Charter School of Excellence’s school building will be closed for the reminder of the 2019-2020 school year, and students will continue with the current Home-Instructional Plan. This does not mean that school is over! We will continue with virtual home instruction to fulfill the 180 days for this school year. New and engaging lessons will be sent to you daily through June 10, 2020. Closing school buildings for the remainder of the school year is a very difficult decision and one that was not made lightly. We know that many students, parents, and staff would like to have returned to school. This certainly is a unique situation that none of us could have ever imagined would have occurred. But at this time, this is what needs to be done to keep our students, your families, and our staff healthy and safe. Rest assured, the staff and I have our thinking caps on and we have been planning a few fun things that will bring smiles to your faces! Our school year is not over! There are many more Riverbank Charter School of Excellence memories to make! As always, our first priority continues to be the health and well being of our students, staff, Riverbank family, and community members. We recognize that school closures have and will continue to create challenges for our families and our community, but we also recognize our responsibility to address this public health concern. If there is anything the staff and I can do to help or provide assistance/resources for your family, please reach out to us. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and helping us keep each other and our community safe.
Stay healthy and well, Beth K. Kelley Ms. Beth K. Kelley Chief School Administrator / Principal
